Healing
The way healing works is probably best described by the Spirit Guide, Silver Birch, through the mediumship of newspaper editor, Maurice Barbenell. Silver Birch said healing flows “from Spirit, through Spirit to Spirit”, affecting the patient in mind, body and spirit. The energy is directed from the healing forces through the healing medium to the recipient.
Working under the umbrella of the Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU), we follow a strict Code of Conduct. This Code sets out the legal and moral obligations of the healer and the patient.
The practice of healing is carried out at this Centre on a Thursday evening at 7.15pm. A number of our healers have been either certificated or approved by the SNU. They have undergone a correspondence course, have received two years training and have then been examined at District level and, if certificated, at National level.
Hands on healing works. All the healer has to do is make sure the patient is comfortable, encourage the patient to close their eyes and relax. The healer then attunes themselves to the healing forces of the Spirit World. All that is required is the placing of the healer’s hands on the patient’s shoulders and the healing takes place.
Some patients feel better if the healer places their hand on the affected part of the body, for example, a frozen shoulder or an arthritic knee perhaps. This is purely psychological. When working with the healing forces we are working with intelligence and that intelligence will direct the healing to wherever it is needed. However, we all feel better for a bit of physical contact now and again. For some people this is the only physical contact they may have. When working with such a patient, one has to observe strict rules and stay away from areas that are very personal, e.g. the areas between the neck and the knees. You must always use your common sense.
Healing undertaken in our Churches and Centres is usually practiced in public. However, sometimes it is helpful to have a private appointment, this enables the healer to achieve a much greater attunement with the healing forces, allowing them to go into a much deeper altered state. If such a request is made then there is always a chaperone, this protects both patient and healer.
Distant Healing
Absent or distant healing is a method of healing which can be very effective whereby the healer offers healing thoughts to anyone who she knows to be in need of healing. This is something that the healer may do at the same time every day. A book of healing thoughts is available for you to put names of family and friends who are in need of distant healing. This book is referred to every Thursday and healing thoughts sent out to those in need. You may like to make a donation but this is optional.
